Managing money at university

As well as getting used to student life, the start of university is also about getting to grips with your finances and learning how to live on a budget! It might be the first time that you’ve paid bills and managed money by yourself, but don’t worry – there’s plenty of help and support available!

Employment and volunteering opportunities 

If you can find a paid role to fit around your studies, then this can be a good way to boost your income and gain some work experience.  

Most institutions offer careers or employment services and often advertise job and volunteering opportunities available in the local area or on campus.

If you’re interested in working on campus, look for jobs in your institution’s cafés and shops or consider applying for a role as a student ambassador.
