We’re delighted to share that Uni Connect and our work here at Kent and Medway Progression Federation (KMPF) are making a measurable difference for students from underrepresented backgrounds.

The latest HEAT Contextualised HE Entry Track Impact Report highlights the significant impact of Uni Connect programmes, demonstrating that students who participate in intensive outreach are up to 29% more likely to enter Higher Education. For learners eligible for free school meals, a key focus of our work, this figure rises to 48%.

The report also shows that sustained long-term outreach across Key Stages 4 and 5 has the greatest impact, something we have worked hard to embed in our programmes. As a national initiative, Uni Connect is now proven to deliver the greatest relative increase in HE progression for disadvantaged students.

This success is built on strong, long-term partnerships between schools, colleges, universities, advisers, and outreach professionals, all working together to provide consistent support and guidance.

Commenting on the report, Gavin Delf, KMPF Hub Manager, said, “At KMPF, we focus on understanding the needs of our region, building meaningful relationships, and connecting experts to provide effective interventions. The report is a testament not only to the value of the Uni Connect programme but also to the importance of continued, long-term outreach for students in Kent and Medway.

We are grateful to all our partners who work alongside us to make a real difference in the lives of thousands of young people and look forward to continuing this important work.”
