Uni Connect partnerships from across the country came together earlier this month for the first in-person meeting of the new Literacy Advisory Group. This was the first in-person event for the network, which aims to create a community of good practice.
Led by the Kent & Medway Progression Federation (KMPF) in partnership with the National Literacy Trust, our focus was on exploring how universities can actively contribute to improving literacy outcomes in secondary schools.
Special thanks to those who presented their literacy interventions (Canterbury Christ Church University, Next Steps South West, Inspiring Choices and Hello Future) and writer Steven Camden (aka Polar Bear) who delivered a brilliant workshop on how to engage young people in storytelling.
Thanks also to all those organisations who attended: Linking London, Sussex Learning Network, Inspiring Choices, Shaping Futures (Uni Connect Programme), Next Steps South West, Hello Future, Make Happen, Network for East Anglian Collaborative Outreach, ThinkHigher, Greater Manchester Higher Aim-Higher West Midlands, Southern Universities Network.
We are already looking forward to the next event!
