A new digital resource has been launched to support disabled students as they take their next steps towards higher education. This includes those who have received support under the term SEND at school or college.

The Guide: Support Available for Disabled Students at University provides practical information and advice about the support available at university, how to apply for Disabled Students’ Allowance (DSA), and tips for a successful transition to higher education.

Developed with input from staff and students from our partner universities across Kent and Medway, The Guide is designed to help prospective students and their families make informed choices and feel confident about accessing support throughout their university journey.

The Guide is available to view and download free of charge and is being shared with Schools, FE Colleges, and University partners across the region to reach as many young people as possible.

Irma-Jane Caggiano, KMPF project lead, said, “We want every student to feel that university is an accessible, supportive, and inclusive environment. This Guide aims to provide clarity and reassurance for those planning their next steps.”
